1979 Leavers' Reunion

1979 LeaversOn Thursday 29th January, a group of roughly 40 ex-St Mary’s Calne girls (predominantly leavers of 1979) convened in Dover Street at the uber chic Gallery of Art Dealer Philip Mould, who, with his wife, former Calne girl Catherine (neé Morgan), kindly hosted an old girls reunion, bringing together several of the “girls“ for the first time in 36 years. Surrounded by exquisite works of art, we were shown fantastic hospitality and plied  with delicious drinks and canapés.

Much to everyone’s delight, the surprize guest  of the evening was former headmistress, Joyce Walters, now Mrs Lynn, who insisted everybody called her Joyce! She made a heartfelt speech, which was followed by a hilarious quiz written by Catherine and Edwina (neé Fyson) based on St Mary’s facts and trivia. An alarming number of the questions were correctly answered by some rather embarrassed old girls, and much laughter ensued as we all squashed onto benches for a group photo.

It was a truly uplifting evening - brilliantly organised and much appreciated by all of us there.
