Calne Girls' Association Reunion 2013

Reunion 2013On Saturday 19th October, we welcomed back over 175 old girls, former staff and one former Headmistress (Mrs Walters) to school, to celebrate our 140th anniversary along with the launch of the new school history book, Consider the Lilies, written by old girl, Elizabeth Christie.

The day started with a particularly poignant Chapel Service officiated by two ordained old girls, singing hymns under the newly replaced Reredos and praying on kneelers sewn by the old girls dating back to the 1960s.

CGA ReunionSpeeches were given in the Helen Wright House with many words of thanks and flowers exchanged between staff and CGA members and of course a huge debt of gratitude to Elizabeth Christie. The most delicious lunch was served in the dining room, followed by tours of the school given by girls in the Fourth Forms. Guests were then treated to a stunning selection of excerpts of Evita in the Chapel, followed by a feast of gorgeous cakes and sandwiches for tea.

Emails full of gratitude have been pouring in from guests – many of whom had not been in school for over 30 years, and some for over 50! It was a wonderful day and was described by many as the best party they have been to in ages.
