2014 Annual CGA Reunion

Annual ReunionThe 2014 Annual Reunion took place on Tuesday 7th October in the Terrace Room at the Hurlingham Club in London. Approximately fifty Old Girls convened in the gorgeous autumnal evening light of the Club’s Terrace Room to sip wine, spot contemporaries and, in many cases, catch up on literally years of news.

Calne Girls Connected

Calne Girls Connected 4The latest edition of Calne Girls Connected, the magazine for all CGA members, was sent out over the summer, and the PDF version is now available online.

This edition of the magazine focuses on Calne Girls in science, looking at alumnae who have followed a variety of paths since leaving St Mary's. There are also full reviews of all reunions that took place over the last year, along with news of future events and developments at the school.

Looking into the Past

DiaryThe second installment of the old school diaries, dating between 1932 and 1948 are now available to view online.

From pupil and staff lists to an in depth account of the day-to-day activites at St Mary's, the diaries offer a fascinating look into life at the school. The final installment of diaries, including the years up until 1960, will be available online shortly.

Calne Girl Talks
Sophie Falinska & Kate Hannay

Sophie Falinska On Tuesday 30th September we were delighted to welcome back to school two former Calne girls to talk to members of the Sixth Form.  Both girls work in the field of Psychology - Sophie Falinska, a leaver of 1996, works as a Clinical Psychologist for the NHS in Adult Mental Health, and Kate Hannay, who left a year before, has spent the past 8 years working in Brixton as a Counselling Psychologist specialising in CBT to help depressed and anxious people.

Their fascinating talks included details about their jobs and the paths they took after school, and inspired the girls to ask many interesting questions.

The LilyPad is a facility for parents and former parents of St Mary's and St Margaret's, as well as Calne Girls and supporters of the schools, to post announcements which will reach the whole school community whilst supporting The Calne Foundation Trust. Old Girl Diaries

Diaries

Calne Old Girl and school archivist, Elizabeth Christie, has been working to make many of the old school diaries, the original of which are kept in the Gabriel Archive at the school, available to be read by all old girls, whatever their location.

The diaries contain a wealth of information from the school at the time, from pupil and staff lists to an in depth account of the day to day activities of all those at the school. More diaries will be added soon - they will eventually cover the years from 1915 to 1960.

1989 Leavers' Reunion

1989 ReunionOn Saturday 28th June, many of the Leavers of 1989 were reunited back at St Mary's Calne. 21 old girls from the year group gathered together, catching up on all the news since they last saw the school and each other.
